It’s important this International Women’s Day, and every other day of the year, we are all making an effort to seek out the voices of women, particularly those who experience multiple axis of oppression, prioritise them, and actually listen to what they have to say.
Fashion may be fickle. But like history, fashion repeats itself. Although no one would be thrilled to see another Global Financial Crisis, for fashion, repetition can be a fabulous thing. Trends may arise and expire faster than your FedEx arrives— but only to come back again.
If the last months have shown us anything it’s that sexism, misogyny and abuse is systemic and widespread in all industries, so we must be thorough, consistent and committed in calling it out and holding those accountable.
