The prospect of 7 launch councillors makes for a very interesting 2019 council. We will be providing you with more details and analysis over the coming days but this news is well and truly HOT OFF THE PRESS.

DAY SIX: Still no results

The counting has rolled over into day six and a few interesting developments have arisen since then:

The first exciting piece of news is that after a recount and review of invalid votes the lead between presidential candidates shrank from 14 votes to 9. Our understanding is that given the tightness of the result a recount was requested. It wouldn’t be a hot take to say this was a tense affair for all.

We can only theorise that scrutineers were fighting over ticks, crosses and misplaced numbers. What we’d give to be flies on the walls of the WAEC Head Office.

Our sources also confirm that this will likely extent to a recount of all Officer Bearer positions.

To contextualise this further we are in line to receive results around the same time as last year from our sources. In 2017 there was a week between Office Bearer results and Ordinary Guild Councillors & NUS representative results. This Editor would recommend to not hold your breath as we could be heading into a long wait given the margins we’ve seen across the Office Bearer positions.

DAY SIX: UPDATE 2

Final numbers on the Education Council President stands at:

LINCOLN ASPINALL: 1617 votes

SHARON NDJIBU: 1491 votes after preference distribution

Keep coming back as we update this with results and tidbits of info.
